Mrs. Barnes

Welcome to Room 113!

My name is Mrs. Deanna Barnes and I am delighted to be your child’s kindergarten teacher this year at Owings Mills Elementary!  This will be my 14th year teaching here at our school and my 7th year teaching Kindergarten.  Kindergarten is my favorite!  This summer my husband and step-daughter, Ashley, and I were able to visit family on a vacation in Florida and in the mountains of North Carolina.  We enjoyed swimming, running at the beach, and relaxing with some good books!  Ashley is going into 6th grade this year and loves to dance.  I hope you are having a wonderful summer as well!

Kindergarten is a time of new beginnings, making new friends, and learning lots of new things each and every day!  Our classroom is a warm and caring learning environment.  It is filled with many centers including: writing, computers, blocks sand, math and many more!  In kindergarten this year, you will learn about letters and letter sounds, be able to write in a journal, and use our class Promethean Board so you can interact with our lessons.  You will build important math skills including: sorting, counting, graphing, patterning, measuring, adding, and subtracting.  With so much to learn and do, I can’t wait to get started!  See you soon!
