Parent/Caregiver Pledge

Parents/Caregivers are asked to support the following in order to maximize student achievement and assist in providing a positive school experience.

 

As the parent/caregiver of an Owings Mills Elementary School student(s) I will:

  • Send my child to school on time, rested and fed.

 

  • Check the Monday school folder and the homework folder daily.

 

  • Set high expectations and hold my child accountable for his/her actions.

 

  • Return notes to school in a timely manner.

 

  • Attend curriculum-based and multi-cultural activities sponsored by the school.

 

  • Attend conferences.

 

  • Work cooperatively with the teacher(s) to achieve academic success for my child.

 

  • Make sure my children learn grade appropriate math facts (Ben Carson).

 

  • Read to my child (Ben Carson).

 

  • Provide school with any changes of address, phone numbers and emergency contact information.

 

 

 

Student Pledge

Students at Owings Mills Elementary are asked to support the following in order to maximize their achievement and assist in providing a positive school experience.

 

As a student of Owings Mills Elementary School I will:

  • Attend school regularly and arrive on time.

 

  • Follow the school’s Code of Conduct for positive school behavior.

 

  • Do my best each day.

 

  • Complete my class assignments and homework.

 

  • Demonstrate responsibility by taking important school items home to my parents/caregivers and returning all required paperwork.

 

  • Ask my teachers for help when I need it.

 

  • Learn grade appropriate math facts (Ben Carson).

 

  • Read daily or 2 hours per week (Ben Carson).

 

  • Attend to instruction and participate in class.

 

  • Come to class prepared and ready to learn.

 

  • Arrive with a positive attitude.

 

 

Staff Pledge

Teachers and staff are asked to support the following in order to maximize student achievement and assist in providing a positive school experience.

 

As the teacher/staff member of an Owings Mills Elementary School student(s) I will:

  • Provide a welcoming and safe environment.

 

  • Clearly communicate to students and parents high academic expectations.

 

  • Clearly communicate school behavior expectations.

 

  • Provide instruction driven by the Voluntary State Curriculum.

 

  • Provide appropriate instruction conducive to all learning styles.

 

  • Provide reading and math resources and workshops for parents.

 

  • Recognize excellent effort as measured on quarterly report cards.

 

  • Provide information to parents via school-wide meetings and workshops.

 

  • Be a positive role model to students.

Mission Statement:

 

It is the mission of Owings Mills Elementary School to ensure that all students successfully meet or exceed the outcomes as outlined in the Voluntary State Curriculum.  By providing a safe and nurturing environment, children will learn through diversified, well-planned, engaging instruction.  It is our commitment to hold all stakeholders accountable as measured by MSA and other assessments.
